     The first day of Spring 2010 semester is January 10th.

     School will be closed on April 4th (Easter weekend) and May 30th (Memorial Day weekend). 

     Spring'10 semester will end on June 20.

     Registration for Fall'10 semester will start in August

Registration is free but mandatory. Seats are limited.

    Classes of Nonna Karakashyan         Chess-in-Russian       Main Hall, room 111

  • 10:15am - level 2  (intermediate, participate in tournaments, have previous training of 1-2 semesters);
  • 11am -    level 0   (new-to-chess);
  • 11:40am - level 1  (beginners, can play / play at home);
  • 12:25pm - level 3  (advanced, players with US Chess Federation rating, have previous training over 2 semesters);
  •   1:10pm - level 0   (new-to-chess);
  •   1:40pm - level 2    (intermediate, participate in tournaments, have previous training of 1-2 semesters)

    Classes of Yuriy Karakashyan            Chess-in-English       Main Hall, room 123

  • 10:15-11:00  - level 4   (advanced, players with US Chess Federation rating, have previous training over 3 semesters);
  • 11:10-11:55  - level 3   (intermediate, participate in tournaments, have previous training of 2-3 semesters);
  • 12:05-12:50  - level 1   (beginners, started in September'09);
  •   1:00-  1:45  - level 2   (beginners-to-intermediate, have previous training of 1-2 semesters)
  •   2:00-  2:45  - level 0   (new-to-chess)
   ** New registrants for levels 1-4 will have a brief test to determine which class they can join.
  

 
 
 
 
 
 
 


Our chess classes are held for students of different age and level.

Classes in Middlesex County College campus (Edison, NJ) are scheduled on Sundays.
Duration of each class is 45 min (theory) + 15 min (practical games).
The size of each class is 4-8 students.


Tuition:
      $17.00 per class, if only paid on monthly basis in advance (for missed class, the tuition is counted towards next month payment);   otherwise, if paid for every class separately - $20.00 per class.

Please include into the letter:

  • name and age of your child;

  • what level describes best his/her chess experience:

    • level 0 - your child does not know chess moves and needs to start from the very basics - a new level-0 class started on Feb 21.

    • level 1 - your child is a beginner, knows how all chess pieces move and plays at home, with friends etc.;

    • level 2 - your child participates in chess tournaments;

    • level 3 - your child has US Chess Federation rating below 600

    • level 4 - your child has US Chess Federation rating above 600

  • your contact information: name, email and phone

 

 

D i r e c t i o n s:

Going from Rt. 1 - South:    take exit Raritan Center, Rt. 514 E (just before exit to Highland Park). Drive less then 2 miles and see the college on your right. Turn right onto College Drive East to proceed to the main entrance. See below.

Going from Rt. 1 - North:  take Bonhamtown exit to Rt.531S. Proceed to traffic light, turn right onto 514W (Woodbridge Ave). proceed abou 2.5 miles and turn left onto College Drive East and proceed to the main entrance. See below.

From Middlesex County College main entrance:   continue straight by College Dr.East, go past a police check point on your right, bear left, continue by College Dr.East till Parking Lot 5. You will see Main Hall building. Once inside the building, you'll see the signs to find chess classes.
